Self - Portrait Series
Rheumatoid, Hands & I
Inks & Acrylic Paints. Centre panel features drawing on top of the glass frame.
This series is part of a continual catharsis of living in parallels with the self. Making visual the otherwise concealed and silent mental & physical pains associated with living with Rheumatoid Disease and Complex PTSD from various life traumas. My paintings strive to share the intense and lonely experiences of emotive and physical pain. Saturated glows of pinks teamed with a slight awkwardness, suggest the parallels of self as both beautiful female & abject, deformed being. Despite a sense of fragility and isolated suffering, the paintings ironically leave us with on overwhelming sense of power and strength.
